David Tai
President
Dr. David Tai was born in Taiwan, raised in Hong Kong and studied in China until finishing medical school. He then graduated from SUNY College of Optometry and currently provides eye care in multiple locations in Queens. Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese, he is dedicated to educating patients so they can better understand and care for their vision.
Dr. Tai sees patients everyday as an optometry doctor and also leads a few organizations on the side. He is the founder of Myopia Charity, Vision Light Eye Care, and NYGoddesses. He also serves as President of Taiwanese Jr. Chamber of Commerce NY, is on the Board of Directors for Young ODs of America among others.
In recognition of his lifelong commitment to service, Dr. Tai was honored with the United States President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He remains dedicated to building a community that grows and thrives together. Welcome to learn more on his instagram @drdavidtai
Deborah Wang
Secretary
Dr. Deborah Wang is the Secretary of Myopia Charity. Originally from Oregon, she moved to New York City to pursue her optometry degree at the SUNY College of Optometry. After graduating, she began her career at an ophthalmology practice in Brooklyn, NY, where she served as the first hired doctor and helped to establish and grow the practice.
In 2024, Dr. Wang transitioned from clinical care to academia, becoming the Director of Career Development and CSTEP Project Director at the SUNY College of Optometry. Through her involvement with CSTEP, she also serves as the Social Media Committee Co-Chair for the Association for Program Administrators of CSTEP and STEP (APACS).
Dr. Wang is deeply engaged in professional service and leadership. She currently serves as Secretary and Past President of the Optometric Society of the City of New York (OSCONY). Within the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA), she holds multiple leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the Young Advocates Committee for the NYC/LI region, Manager of the CE Pass Program, Metropolitan Regional Trustee, and active member of both the Brand, Communications & Outreach Committee and the Annual Innovation Vision Conference Planning Team. Additionally, she is an American Optometric Association (AOA) Federal Keyperson, representing the NYSOA in legislative advocacy, and was named the 2025 Young Optometrist of the Year by the NYSOA.
Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Wang enjoys volunteering for Korean K9 Rescue, gaming, and exploring New York City’s vibrant food scene. She has also been a proud member of the NYC Yelp Elite community for the past nine years.
Milly Mui
Fundraising Chair
"Dr. Milly M. Mui (pronounced Moo-ee)
Dr. Milly M. Mui is a native New Yorker who grew up in Queens, New York. She
graduated from Stuyvesant High School and did her undergrad at NYU. She was a
certified ophthalmic assistant for 10 years before applying to optometry school. Dr. Mui
graduated from the New England College of Optometry at the age of 36. After
graduation, she worked in Massachusetts for 2 years and moved back to NYC in late
2012. In April 2013, she opened her own practice, Mui Eye Care Optometry, located in
Manhattan’s Chinatown. She specializes in primary eye care including myopia control,
dry eyes, glaucoma, low vision, and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Mui has served on the Optometric Society of the City of New York as Director-at-
large for the past 7 years. She is now serving as NYSOA Regional Trustee for
Metropolitan New York. She also serves on the NYSOA Third Party Committee
advocating 3 rd party reimbursements, as well as the Health Equity and Inclusive
Excellence Committee to promote health equity in underrepresented in optometry. She
lobbied for oral prescribing privileges for 7 years in Albany, NY and continues to be
active in advocating for the expansion of the scope of optometry.
Dr. Mui speaks fluent Cantonese, Toishanese, and Mandarin Chinese."
